I love reading. It’s one of my favorite things to do. But I generally don’t read a lot of books relating to food. I want to change that this year, so not only will I be reading from my small selection of cookbooks, but I’ll be reading ones from the library too.
I have some books that I’ll be reading once they are ready for pick-up from the library. And after I get through the stack 0f books currently on the floor.
I finished Cook 1.o by Heidi Swanson. Well, as much as I’ll ever finish it. I loved it, and it was very intuitive. I love that all the recipes were in chart format and that you knew which step was next with one quick glance.
I requested Chocolate and Zucchini by Clotilde Dusoulier, Alone In The Kitchen With An Eggplant, which is edited by Jenni Ferrari-Adler, and The Art Of Eating by M.F.K. Fisher. They all seem to be part cookbook, part memoir, so hopefully I’ll come away inspired.
I definitely want to utilize cookbooks more, especially the ones I own. There’s nothing wrong with the food blogs I follow, because I do enjoy them and I’m inspired by them. But I sometimes use them to the point of ignoring cookbooks, and that’s not fair to the cookbooks. I’m thinking right now that cookbooks will be for cooking and food blogs will be for baking, since a lot of the blogs I read are dessert-oriented.
As for something non-book related, I think I’m going to bake some bread today!
